The invention relates to a method for packaging materials to be disposed of (G), such as household waste or food scraps. According to this method, a bag (6a) with an opening for filling is manufactured from a tubular film (6) in a packaging device (1). Said bag (6a) is filled with the materials to be disposed of (G) via said opening, and the opening is then sealed by a sealing device (9) of the packaging device (1). The invention is characterised in that the bag (6a) containing the waste material is weighed by a weighing device (14) during or after each filling cycle, said weighing device being coupled with the sealing device (9), and in that the sealing device (9) is automatically activated to seal the opening of the bag (6a) when a predetermined or predeterminable bag weight is detected by the weighing device (14). The invention also relates to a packaging device for carrying out the inventive method.
