The X-ray tube has a cathode (1) and an anode contained within a vacuum-tight housing (3), with deflection of the electron beam (10) emitted by the cathode via an electromagnet (31). The latter has a C-shaped yoke with an energising winding (37) wound around its base section (34), the yoke arms (35,36) provided with pole shoes (39,40) with opposing pole faces (41,42), between which the electron beam is passed.
