Method for conditioning residual combustible gases for use as gas turbine fuel

The method involves treating the residual combustible gases in a pressure vessel, so that thermal value of the gas mixture, measured as the Wobbe Number, is maintained within +/-10% of the gas turbine manufacturer's specification, and the rate of variation of the Wobbe Number is kept below 1% per second. From a gas-holder, the residual gases are delivered, by a compressor, to a pressure vessel where the pressure is held at the required inlet for the gas turbine. The residual gas is dosed with a fuel gas of a high thermal value, e.g. natural gas. The volume of the pressure vessel is sufficiently large to enable the value and rate of change of the Wobbe Number to be kept within the above limits. Inert gas, e.g. nitrogen or carbon dioxide, can be fed to the pressure vessel to maintain the quality when residual gas availability is low.
