<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable restricting concurrently a decrease in primary power factor and higher harmonics in secondary circuit occurring during variable speed operation by one equipment at the secondary side by connecting a capacitor in parallel at the AC side of the secondary circuit of a variable speed induction generating equipment, without adding equipment to the primary side. SOLUTION: An variable speed induction generator comprises an induction generator 2 for converting a drive force from a prime mover 1 to electric energy, and a variable speed control equipment 6 consisting of a power regenerating equipment 5, which controls a rotating speed by adjusting the secondary current of an induction generator 2 by the on-off operation of a DC chopper 4 via a rectifier 3, and recovers power during chopper-off. Then a capacitor 7 is connected in parallel between an induction generator 2 and a rectifier 3 of this variable speed induction generating equipment. By doing this, the problem of decreasing the power factor of the induction generator during variable speed operation and the problem of the necessity of increasing the capacity of a DC reactor for restricting the higher harmonics generated in the secondary circuit, can be moved at the same time.</p> |
