Use of phosphonate-containing mixtures for stabilising hydrogen peroxide in aqueous solution(s) in presence of calcium(II), magnesium(II), iron (III), manganese(II) and/or copper(II) ions, the mixtures containing: (a) 1-hydroxy-1,1-diphosphonic acid(s) of formula: HO-C(PO3M2)2-(CH2)n-Y (I) or respective water-soluble salts; (b) a phosphite of formula: M2HPO3; and (c) a phosphate of formula: M3PO4; (Where: M = H and/or alkali metal, ammonium or alkylated ammonium ion (depending on the degree of neutralisation); Y = -C(OH)(PO3M2)2 or -COOM; n = 2-4).
