Process to make coke fuel from waste materials

In a process to convert waste material into a fuel for combustion, the improvement is that: (a) organic residues in the waste which may be easily composted or biologically broken down are so treated, within e.g. a force-ventilated container; (b) a combustion fraction is separated from the resulting stable dry matter, and subjected to low temperature pyrolysis to produce coke; (c) the combination of biological drying, subsequent separation of different material fractions and pyrolysis, reduces the level of unwanted pollutants in the fuel product; (d) the process increases the calorific value of the resulting fuel to more than 20,000 kJ/kg; (e) the coke density is increased without the application of external energy.
