The invention relates to the use of di- and oligoacylaromats for colouring fibres containing keratin, said di- and oligoacylaromats being of formula (1), wherein R<1>, and R<2> represent a low (C1-C4) alkyl group, an aryl group or a heteroaryl group independently of each other, R<3>, R<4> and R<5> each represent a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a C1-C4 alkyl group, C1-C4 alkoxy group or a hydroxy (C1-C4) alkoxy group, a hydroxy group, nitro group, amino group or C1-C4 acyl group independently of each other, 1,2 diacetyl benzoles being excluded, in the presence of at least one compound with a primary or secondary amino group or a hydroxy group, selected from primary or secondary aliphatic or aromatic amines, nitrogenous heterocyclic compounds, amino acids, oligopeptides made up of 2 to 9 amino acids and aromatic hydroxy compounds, and/or at least one CH-active compound.
