The door or window has at least one sliding door or window panel (1), which is moved along a travel rail (3). The door panel is moved along under control of an electric drive unit with at least two electric motors (10). The drive coupling between an electric motor and the running rollers (6a) of the sliding door or window panel may be released when the motor fails. The electric motors may be associated respectively with different sets of running rollers for the sliding door or window panel.
