DISTRIBUTION OR CROSS-CONNECTION ASSEMBLY

A cross-connection or distribution assembly has a pivotally mounted actuator (24) with a large diameter section (68) and a small diameter section (66). The small diameter section receives a small wire for termination to a small slot IDC blade (25), and the larger cavity section is for receiving a large wire for termination to a large slot IDC blade (25'). A larger range of wire sizes can be terminated without requiring large actuation forces, and in addition without risk of damaging the small slot IDC blade with large wires such that multiple use of the connector is possible. The connector assembly also has a pluggable module (80'', 80''') for actuating the connection or disconnection of exchange and subscriber side terminal sections of the assembly for operation or testing respectively.
