The lighting for the prodn. of light patterns e.g. for indicating symbols, figures or letters. A basic body (10) of solid material is provided e.g. in the form of an obelisk. It has a cavity (3) open at one side of the basic body and at least one duct (4) between the surface (2) of the body and the cavity for the reception of a light wave conductor. Also at least one light wave conductor (6) between the surface of the basic body and a light source e.g. a low voltage halogen lamp (8), for the prodn. of light points on the surface of the basic body. The basic body can be made using stone, wood, metal, plastic or artificially produced stone like materials or a combination of these materials. The arrangement of the light points can be designed to produce geometric shapes, letters, figures or other symbols. A transformer (9) is provided to supply a low voltage of 20 V to the halogen lamps.
