The method for separating individual differently coloured drinks half chests and assembling similar half chests. A half chest with a first colour id held in a waiting station (12) and fed through a rotary post (8). Two following differently coloured half crates are inspected and the crate is rotated so that the half crate of the first colour is moved further into the waiting station adjacent to the first half crate. The half crates are separated in the separating station (10) and fed to the waiting and assembly station.
