Support for low-expansion seal of gas turbine engine

A number of support members (70) are fastened to the housing (14) of a gas turbine engine to position a circular sealing ring (60) e.g. of ceramic, having a thermal expansion rate less than that of the engine components. The ring can move radially independent of the support members and an arrangement prevents it from rotating. The engine nozzle members (36) position the sealing ring axially. Preferably a cavity is provided adjacent to the sealing ring for passage of compressed air from the compressor section. The support members are preferably mounted on hooks (92) within the housing.
