The invention concerns a diaphragm for the hygienic protection of a stethoscope formed by a thin and flexible latex or rubber cap, provided with a gripping hem (28) at its periphery. The diaphragm (26) has substantially the same diameter as the auscultation attachment to be protected. A ring-shaped cavity (30) is provided between the hem (28) and the back wall (32) facilitating the symmetrical adaptation of the diaphragm (26) on the attachment peripheral edge. The assembly is arranged so that the hem (28) matches perfectly the edge outline without the need for stretching and elastic deformation by drawing when said diaphragm (26) is set in place.
