Sintered coloured pencil lead with good intensity and bending strength

Sintered coloured pencil lead is claimed which is produced by impregnating the pores of sintered white or black-coloured lead with at least 37 wt.% of a polyoxyethylene alkyl ether of formula R1-O-(CH2CH2O)nH (I), R1 = decyl, undecyl, lauryl, tridecyl or oleyl; and n = 1-14. Also claimed is the production of the above pencil lead by filling the pores of a white of lightly-coloured porous, sintered pencil lead with a solution of a dye in a solution of 33-90 wt.% (I) and a low boiling solvent and drying to remove the low-boiling solvent.
