The invention concerns a device for the continuous transfer of containers along a substantially vertical direction, comprising: means for driving in rotation, about a vertical axis (5), prehensile members (8) for gripping the containers (2); support means (9) arranged such that each prehensile member can slide vertically relative to the driving means; a fixed circular cam (14), coaxial with the driving means and capable of co-operating with the support means (9) such that the latter can move vertically between two predetermined levels when the driving means rotate; means (16) for bringing the containers to the prehensile means (8) when they are rotating at a first level; and means (21) for removing the containers from the prehensile members (8) when they rotate at a second level.
