The hollow bearer (11), which is responsive to bending, has inside it a number of stiffening elements (16) which connect the opposite wall regions of the bearer to each other. This stabilises the cross section of the bearer. The spacing (d1-dx) of the individual stiffening elements is set to correspond the bend response over the length of the bearer. The stiffening elements are in the form of bulkhead walls running perpendicularly to the neutral line (18) of the bearer.
