The present invention relates to a cylindrical metal structure (1) comprising a core (2) and a casing (3), said core consisting of metal fibre bundles which are preferably for the most part oriented in the longitudinal direction of the cylindrical metal structure (1), the casing (3) consisting of a knitted, woven or twisted metal wire structure. The said cylindrical metal structure (1) can further be provided with a protective plastic casing (5). The present invention relates also to use of the metal structure (1) as a sealing element.
