The assembly has a unit for treatment of products for sterilisation (1) which are brought to an autoclave (3) on a trolley (2). The treatment unit has an active treatment device (4) for treating the packaging following filling with the product to be sterilised or prior to refilling. This treatment device has an electrical unit for ensuring the sealing in the autoclave while at the same time also treating each product disposed in its open packaging. Sterilisation is carried out by circulation of air free steam while the bags are open and adjusted to the needs of food or medical products. On completion of the initial sterilisation electricity is supplied to a bimetal bar which moves to release spring operated flanges. The spring operated flanges actuate welding blades which seal the bags while they are still in the autoclave.
