<p>The invention relates to methods of unfolding proteins using metal complexes, particularly cobalt-containing Schiff's base compounds. The proteins can be viral proteins or myoglobin, and the unfolding can be irreversible under physiological conditions. The unfolded proteins exhibit UV/vis absorption spectral changes (see the figure) and a 5 % or greater change in at least one minima or maxima of the circular dichroism spectra of the proteins.</p> |
