PURPOSE:To allow visual observation of thawing status from outside a refrigerator, diminish uneven thawing, and finish thawing within a short time period by a method wherein a reflection plate is provided with a hole which communicates a lighting and the inside of a thawing compartment, a shield plate which is made by cutting straight and raising a dome part located between the lighting and a far infrared ray heater, and a number of air blow holes in it. CONSTITUTION:During thawing operation, the temperature inside a thawing compartment 15 is gradually raised by the heating actions of a far infrared ray heater 34 and a heater, and cold air flowing into a duct 50 is blown downward through a number of air blow holes 39a provided in a reflection plate 39 and a hole 39b having an opening area equal to or larger than the size of a lighting 40 to cool uniformly the surface of food 45 to be thawed. A shield plate 39c is formed by cutting straight and raising a dome part between the lighting 40 and the far infrared ray heater 34 to prevent the lighting 40 from being deformed by heat. The thawing compartment 15 is located inside a low temperature room 14 and kept within a partial freezing temperature rang of about -3 deg.C suitable for preserving uncooked food even when the food is left in the thawing compartment after thawing operation is completed. In addition, the lighting is lit in the thawing compartment 15 for a certain time period so that the food can be seen through a window 57 on a door 60 of the low temperature compartment 14. |
