A data recording/reproducing device provided with a transmitting/receiving means which transmits/receives data and command signals through a transmission line, a recording/reproducing means which records data received from the transmitting/receiving means on a recording medium at the time of reception and transmits data reproduced from the recording medium to the transmitting/receiving means at the time of transmission, an operating means which generates operation signals for guiding the operation of the recording/reproducing means, a control means which controls the recording/reproducing means in accordance with a command signal or an operating signal, and a switching signal generating means which outputs a switching signal for judging whether the operating signal is effective or ineffective based on the command signal received from the transmitting/receiving means to the control means. When the control means receives an operating means effectuating signal, the control effectuates the operating signal outputted by the operating means. When the control means receives an operating means ineffectuating signal, the control means ineffectuates the operating signal outputted by the operation means.
