LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY

A liquid crystal display panel composed of a pair of transparent substrates having electrodes on their mutually facing surfaces and a liquid crystal layer sealed in the gap between the substrates. A plurality of such liquid crystal display panels are stacked. A reflective polarizing plate is provided at least on the top of the stack of the liquid crystal display panels, between two of the liquid crystal display panels, or on the bottom of the stack to constitute a liquid crystal display. The reflective state and the transmissive state of the reflective polarizing plate are controlled by the voltage applied to the liquid crystal layers to enable the opening or closing of a metallic shutter.
