A method of reinforcing a selected portion of a structural part 24 utilises a flexible member 20, eg a tube, at least a portion of which is covered with an expandable resin 22, eg a thermally expandable resin. The flexible member 20 is inserted into a cavity 26 in the part 24 and is bent prior to or during the inserting step so that it conforms to the geometry of the part 24 to be reinforced. After securing the flexible member 20 in place, the resin 22 is expanded to bond it to the selected portion of the part 24. The part 24 may be a roll bar, an A-pillar joint or a seat frame for a vehicle. |
