An AC generator (1) for vehicles includes a field rotor (3), a stator (2) disposed around said field rotor (3) and a frame (4) for supporting the rotor (3) and the stator (2). The stator (2) has a laminated core (22) having a plurality of slots (24), aluminum conductors housed in the slots (24), and an electric insulator (23). The aluminum conductor is constituted by in-slot portion (21a) and a crossover portion for connecting an in-slot portion (21a) in one slot (24) to another in-slot portion (21a) in a different slot (24) to provide a winding as a whole. The frame (4) is provided with a plurality of windows (41) substantially in a whole periphery thereof at portions encircling the crossover portions (21b) and substantially in an outer diametrical direction opposite to the crossover portions (21b).
