PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for coating a metal plate which moves continuously by which it is possible to give the plate a metallic appearance and a crape-like pattern and form a beautifully decorative coat without increasing the number of bakings. SOLUTION: A top colored base coating and a top clear coating are applied by wet-on-wet coating to the surface of a long-size metal plate which moves continuously and these coatings are baked to form the top clear coat on the top colored base coat. In this coating method, the top colored base coating contains fine organic resin particles with an average particle diameter of 5-80μm and the top clear coating contains a glittering powder and generates a uniformly crape-like pattern on the surface of the coat at the time of curing the coat.
