1533407 Electrically heated boilers G GIRAUD 2 Dec 1975 [2 Dec 1974] 49555/75 Heading F4A An electrically heated boiler for central heating or domestic hot water systems is made as a compact unit for installation at the base of a distribution column. It includes a heating chamber 1 composed of horizontal ducts 2 joined by vertical headers 3, 4, each duct 2 enclosing one or more electrical heating resistors 5 which are fully immersed in the heat conveying liquid. The upstream header 3 carres a circulation pump 9, whilst the downstream header 4 carries a static turbulator 10 comprising a swirl chamber chamber 14 supplied by a jet inlet 15. The upper wall 16 of the turbulator 10 carries a safety valve 17 and a thermostat 18 which acts both to regulate the temperature and as a safety device. The circuit also includes means 22 for treating the fluid, a thermometer 23, a pressure gauge 24 and a control probe 25. The whole unit is housed in a metal cabinet 13, and an electrical control box (26) is secured to one of the cabinet walls. This box (26) includes means to control the temperature of the fluid leaving the boiler, this being effected in practice either by energizing or de-energizing resistors 5, or by modulating the electrical energy, or by mixing leaving fluid with return fluid. The boiler is able to withstand high pressures and can be used with existing installations, one boiler being connected at the base of each distribution column. |
