PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the safety of an air bag for side impact by ensuring inflation of an air bag mainbody in a simple structure. SOLUTION: An air bag 11 for side impact is so constructed that an air bag mainbody 12 stored in a seat back tears the skin of the seat back 14 with the blow of gas from an inflator 13, when a vehicle suffers side impact, projects outward and then swells between the side of the vehicle and a crew. In the seat back 15 ranging from the air bag mainbody 12 in the stored condition near the torn portion A of the seat back, air bag inflation spaces B1 , B2 are formed, the air bag inflation space B1 located apart from a gas blow port 13a in the inflator 13 being set narrower than the air bag inflation space B2 located near the gas blow port 13a. |
