FIBER FOR REINFORCING RUBBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain fiber for reinforcing rubber that is excellent in uniform dispersion and reinforcement without deteriorating the basic performance of the matrix and rubber and is useful for tire. SOLUTION: This fiber is treated with a vinyl alcohol polymer having >=0.05 MPa stress on 5% elongation. This rubber-reinforcing fiber comprises at least (A) a polymer of poly(vinyl alcohol) and an acrylonitrile polymer has the fiber cross section of the islands in sea pattern in which either of the component A or the component B forms islands and the other the sea and the weight ratio of the components A/B is preferably 90/10-20/80.
