PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the obtaining of a sense of smooth rotating operations of a drag regulating knob and the smooth practice of microadjustment. SOLUTION: This drag regulator for a fishing reel is obtained by forming the central through-hole 6a, stopped from rotation and fitted into a baseplate in a ratchet ring 6 of a click mechanism C, recessed teeth 6c and protruding teeth 6d of uneven teeth for click on the inner periphery of an outer peripheral wall 6b, regulating the number of the protruding teeth 6d to 45, further forming a click engaging piece holder 7 of the central through-hole 7c of the base and two sets of through-holes 7e and 7f bored in the outer peripheral wall 7d, forming a click engaging piece 8 of an engaging partγ, bent and formed into a deformed protruding shape with a spring member, protruded from a circular arc part 8a and inserted into the through-hole 7e and engaging parts 8b and 8b engaged with both edges in the through-hole 7f by opening the circular arc part 8a, then forming each engaging partγof parallel sliding guide parts 8c and chevron-shaped tilted parts 8d, engaging one of the chevron-shaped tilted parts 8d with the recessed tooth 6c for the click and engaging the other of the chevron-shaped tilted parts 8d with the protruding tooth 6d for the click.
