PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve efficiency in the formation of fine particles of glass by the prevention of occurrence of local low-pressure part and eddy in a gas current and the acceleration of the mixing and reaction of gas and also to improve efficiency in the deposition of the fine particles by the prevention of fluctuations in the temp. distribution of the gas current, by forming the end of a partition wall between gas passages of a multiple-tubed burner into an acute, obtuse, or rounded shape. SOLUTION: A burner 1 is divided by several partition walls 4, and respective gas currents 2 of gaseous raw material for glass, combustible gas, combustion improver gas, and seal gas are allowed to flow through gas passages between the partition walls, respectively. An edge part 3 is formed at the end of each partition wall 4 between the gas passages. This edge part 3 is formed into an acute, obtuse, or rounded shape. From the standpoint of the mixing of the gaseous raw material for glass, the combustible gas, and the combustion improver gas, the angle of the edge part 3 is regulated to 30 to 60 deg.C in the case of acute angle and to 120 to 150 deg. in the case or obtuse angle and also the bend radius in the case of rounding is regulated to 1 to 3 mm. Moreover, the flow ratio, by volume, of the combustible gas to the gaseous raw material for glass is regulated to (2 to 40):1 and also that of the combustion improver gas to the gaseous raw material for glass is regulated to (1 to 20):1. |
