PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the application development period of multimedia information service on a wide area network that is used by the general public and also to perform a fast service operation by managing efficiently content data and separating modules which process the data. SOLUTION: A terminal of a client side on which a user exchanges service content has a WWW browser 10 and communicates with an HTTP server 20 of a server side through a HTTP protocol. The server side also has a database server 30 which links with the server 20 and operates and prepares an HTML document that is returned to the client according to a template stored in a template database 40. Further, the server 30 links with a database access module 50 that accesses multimedia data and operates. An access to a real multimedia database 60 sometimes uses a multimedia class library 70.
