摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display video signals at different field frequencies with image picture quality by dividing a 2nd field into subfields, in which the frequency is almost equal to the least common denominator of 1st and 2nd field frequencies, and specifying the turn-on time of respective pixels in the respective subfields SOLUTION: A video signal (in the 1st field) of a field frequency 90 Hz is inputted to a display device corresponding to a video signal (in the 2nd field) of a field frequency 100 Hz, so that gradation display is performed. The 2nd field is divided into (n) subfields, and the frequency of the subfield is set at 900 Hz of the least common denominator of the 1st and 2nd field frequencies 100 Hz and 90 Hz respectively. Then, the subfields are prepared as nine (n=9), and the respective pixels are turned on in the respective subfields only for 1/9 of the emission time in a 2nd field cycle t2 . Thus, the cycle of the subfield is made equal to the period of a differenceΔt between the 1st and 2nd field cycles t1 and t2 .
