The invention concerns an eddy current probe comprising a field coil (4) consisting of a solenoid whereof the maximum external diameter is less than the tube (1) internal diameter, a plurality of sensors (6) of the magnetic field radial component circumferentially distributed around the field coil (4), in an arrangement coaxial with the field coil (4), means (8) for processing the sensor (6) signals including a statistical analysis unit of a signal sensed during the probe (2) displacement in the tube (1) and means for determining aberrant signals caused by defects isolated from the noise signal, and means (10) for displacing the probe in translation inside the tube.
