PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distributed mail system that is computerized. SOLUTION: Plural client computers 111 to 113 are mutually connected through a network. Each client computer 111 to 113 executes a client mail application program. A mail service system 200 is also connected to the network. The system 200 carries out a server mail program in a server computer. The system 200 stores a mail message in a message file and also includes an index server which stores full text indexes of the mail message. Further, the system 200 includes a means which accesses a mail message through plural computers 111 to 113 by using inquiry and searching a full text index.
