PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To add a generation garbage collection function to a multiprocessor computer system by providing a step to detect the end of a generation garbage collection process, a step to restart the change of a shared heap memory, etc. SOLUTION: A garbage collection step detection process 450 produces a signal to show the end of a procedure 465 showing the end of a garbage collection step and then a procedure 463 where a processing unit performs the garbage collection. Then the processing unit is kept waiting until it's detected that another processor unit also notified the end of garbage collection by a signal in a procedure 467. When another processing unit once notified the end of a garbage collection process, the change of a shared heap memory is restarted in a process that is inhibited by a chafe stopping procedure 457 in a procedure 469 where the change of every processing unit is restarted.
