PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable information terminal, which enables precise setting, by determining a suitable response method while linking a personal information managing part and an automatic response control part. SOLUTION: When there is an incoming call to a wireless telephone, a radio part 2 acquires the telephone number information of a call origination source from a wireless telephone base station through a control channel, and that number is reported from the radio part 2 through a voice/data switch part 6 and a MODEM part 5 to a main control part 1. The main control part 1 inquires the method of a response to the incoming call to an automatic response control part 12. This automatic response control part 12 discriminates the call origination source by effectively utilizing starting ID (telephone number or address) information sent from a communication network and comparing it with a number stored on an electronic telephone directory at a personal information managing part 11 and determines the response method of call incoming according to attribute information added to the personal information of that call origination source. Namely, it is judged whether or not the retrieved result of the incoming call and electronic mail from a FAX is to be positively reported. |
