PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a password authentication system capable of improving the reliability of security management based on a password and a recording medium recording the processing procedure of the system. SOLUTION: An authentication processing part 11 in a host computer 10 uses the collation of a time interval between respective characters at the time of inputting a password also for authentication in addition to the collation of a password set up in each user. Inter-character time intervals are set up in the descending order e.g. and used for collation as rhythm information. When a user inputs a user name and a password from each I/O device 30, the inputted character string and a result (rhythm information) obtained by calculating the inter-character time intervals in the ascending order are compared with the character information of password information 22 and rhythm information which are previously registered in a password management file 21 to check their coincidence, and only at the time of coincidence, the use of resources and systems can be permitted. |
