PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which has a relatively low driving voltage and also has light scattability, light transmissivity, and contrast ratio higher than those of a conventional reflection type liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device 1 is constituted by sandwiching a liquid crystal layer 70 between a couple of substrates 10 and 60, and the substrate 10 has on its liquid crystal layer side a vertical orientation film 31 including a monomolecular film formed of sulfide molecules in straight-chain structure and a horizontal orientation film 32 formed of sulfide molecules in different straight chain structure or fluorine derivatives of cystine. |
