PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent decrease of the efficiency of the whole body of an apparatus (the whole image forming operation) due to the period from the time a polygon motor is stopped or retarded state to the time the polygon motor is started to rotate at high rated speed. SOLUTION: This apparatus comprises a laser 23 to radiate laser beam, a polygon mirror to deflect the laser beam radiated from the laser 23, a fixing unit, a motor control means 25 to control a polygon motor which rotates the polygon mirror, and a fixation control means 26 to control ON OFF of a heat radiating body of a fixation unit to control the temperature of the fixation means and is provided with a preheat mode in which the temperature of the fixation unit is lowered on completion of the copying process and the time taken for recovering the temperature possible to carry out copying is shortened. The motor control means 25 retains the rotation speed of the polygon motor 22 at a prescribed rotation speed within the transition time to the preheat mode after copying is finished and controls to stop the polygon motor 22 or retard the rotation speed during the time in the preheat mode after the transition time is passed. |
