PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the resolution in a horizontal direction by increasing the frequency of a video signal on a horizontal scanning line in the display of a stereoscopic video image. SOLUTION: This stereoscopic video image transmitter is provided with compression circuits 1, 2 that compress a left-eye (L) image and a right-eye (R) image used to generate a stereoscopic video image in a horizontal scanning line direction through interleave processing of the video data of each pixel and with a composite circuit 3 that connects the compressed L image and R image in the horizontal scanning line direction for generating a synthesis image, and the synthesized image signal is transmitted to a stereoscopic video image display device via a signal transmission line 7 or a recording medium. In this case, the compression circuits 1, 2 apply thinning processing to 3-primary color data strings, configuring video data of one horizontal scanning line in each of L and R, images, while deviating at least one data string from other data strings by one pixel. |
