<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the thickness of a catalyst layer and reduce the waste catalyst by providing a negative electrode catalyst layer consisting of two layers of a platinum layer mounted extending from the surface of a solid polymer electrolyte film to the inner part thereof, and a layer including platinum and ruthenium mounted extending from the surface of the solid high polymer electrolyte layer to the outer part thereof. SOLUTION: Platinum is mounted on a Nafion film 1 by electroless plating. The platinum particle is precipitated from the surface of the Nafion film 1 toward the inner part, and the first layer 2 of a negative catalyst layer is mounted extending from the surface of the Nafion film 1 to the inner part. An aqueous solution of RuCl3 or Na4 Ru(SO3 )3 is reduced with N2 H4 or NaBH4 to precipitate ruthenium on the first layer 2. The ruthenium 3 is developed with the platinum particle as nucleus from the surface of the Nafion film 1 to the outer part. H2 PtCl6 in an aqueous solution is reduced with NaBH4 , and platinum is further precipitated on the ruthenium followed by drying to form a second layer including platinum, ruthenium and the Nafion film 1.</p> |
