PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce noise at signal edges resulting from detail emphasis processing in the case of noise reduction processing and the detail emphasis processing onto the signal. SOLUTION: Subtractors 21 -2n take difference of processing object pixel data from peripheral pixels other than a processing object pixel and the correlation of the pixels is detected by correlation detectors 31 -3n , a selection means 5 selects only the differences with respect to the high correlation pixels among outputs form the subtractors based on the count result by a counter means 4, an adder 6 sums the selected differences, the sum is divided by a divider means 7 according to the count result to extract noise. Then an adder 8 adds the result to processing object pixels to obtain the processing object pixels whose noise is reduced. In a detail processing section 15, the extracted noise is added to high spatial frequency components extracted by HPFs 111 , 112 at coring circuits 131 , 132 to attenuate the noise and an adder 14 adds the outputs of the coring circuits to the processing object pixels whose noise is reduced to obtain an output whose details are emphasized. |
