PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To high-accurately switch resolution without using a movable optical system in the case of the switching of resolution by switching the resolution by the selection of a light source for light emission. SOLUTION: Two semiconductor laser arrays 1 and 7 generating plural laser beams are used in the light source. The laser oscillating part of the arrays 1 and 7 are inclined to a scanning surface. Either of the arrays 1 and 7 is used in accordance with the resolution obtained in the case of printing resolving. The laser beams emitted from the arrays 1 and 7 are made to be parallel light beams by a collimator lenses 2 and 8, then reflected or transmitted through a beam splitter 3, reflected by a polygon mirror 4, and transmitted through an fθlens 5 so as to scan a photoreceptor 6. Thus, the switching of the resolution can be performed by the selection of the light emitting part for the light emission.
