摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intelligent power module (IPM) or a power converter with a high operating rate and reliability by reducing considerable number of signal lines that are used to contact a fault from the IPM to a controller. SOLUTION: A pulse generating circuit 13a generates a pulse of 10 kHz for, e.g. 1 ms. For example, on the occurrence of an overvoltage, an OV4 detects it and the pulse generating circuit 13a generates 10-shot pulses for 1 ms. Then a controller 11 counts pulses for 1 ms and detects the occurrence of the overvoltage when the controller 11 counts 10-shot pulses. Similarly, on the occurrence of an overcurrent in an IGBT1a, an OC7 detects it and a pulse generating circuit 13b generates 20-shot pulses for 1 ms.
