The system, having a pulsed injection pump (3) and an injector with a graduated pintle (5), has the opening and closure of the pintle controlled by a discharge circuit (21) linking the fuel feed (7) and return (8) channels. The circuit is controlled by a solenoid valve (25), and incorporates a graduated discharge valve (22), a calibrated aperture (23) and an outlet (27). The outlet is situated in the return channel and is designed to ensure the progressive nature of the pintle opening and speed of closure.
