A bottle neck supporting collar (5), the teat (4) and retaining ring (3) flanges have identical apertures which can be aligned to allow a sterilising liquid to pass from a sealed cap (2) into the bottle. When the bottle has been used and cleaned, the teat and retaining ring are re-fitted with the holes aligned. After the cap has been screwed on, a sterilising liquid can be poured in through its stoppered aperture (1) and passes through the holes into the bottle. After the sterilising liquid has been poured away and the bottle filled with milk, the teat ring is tightened fully so that the holes are no longer aligned.
