PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide FAX equipment with a bar code read function for facilitating operation at the time of transmission by reading a bar code, with which information such as a FAX number is inputted on the space of an original, through a scanner. SOLUTION: By inputting the data of the transmission destination from a personal computer 1, these data are made into a bar code 4 on the space of an original 3 to be transmitted, and the original is ejected from a printer 2. Namely, the original 3 is prepared by the personal computer 1, the information of the bar code 4 (such as the FAX transmission destination or the FAX number of the transmission destination) is inputted and the original 3 is printed out of the printer 2. That original 3 is set to the main body of a FAX and when the original 3 to be transmitted with the printed bar code 4 is inserted into a scanner part mounted on the main body of the FAX, the FAX transmits the contents of the original 3 to the side of a party by reading the bar code 4 printed on top of the original 3 from the personal computer 1 by the printer 2 while using the scanner part. Thus, only by setting the original 3 on the main body of the FAX, this original 3 can be transmitted to the side of the party.
