PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability by discriminating whether or not a speaker and a line are to be connected and automatically originating a call by connecting the speaker and the line when a telephone call is discriminated. SOLUTION: The input of a dial from a key operating part 6 through a ten key or a one-action key is waited. The dial number inputted from the key operating part 6 is displayed on a display part 9. Corresponding to the presence/ absence of an original, it is judged whether it is facsimile communication or speaking. When no original is set, a monitor speaker 7 is turned on by a signal processing part 1 for controlling the entire system. A telephone line L is closed by the signal processing part 1. Based on the dial number inputted from a line control part 11, a call is automatically originated. A polarity is detected by the line control part 11 and it is judged whether the polarity is inverted or not. When the telephone Line L detects the inversion of the polarity from the polarity of the line, namely, when a party responds to the call, a microphone 8 is turned on and hands free speaking is started.
