Disclosed is a window raiser comprising a lifting member (19) acting as a grip on the pane (17) to actuate same, a reversible electrically-operated motor (20) designed to drive the lifting member (19), a drive mechanism (27) converting the rotational movement of the electrical motor (20) into a lifting movement of the lifting member (19), and a safety device (23) to limit the locking force. At least one spring is provided inside the drive system (27) to prevent an extreme increase of the locking force from occurring during the lapse of time between the moment when a signal is generated to cut off the engine and the actual engine cut-off (20). The device is characterized in that it causes a spring excursion inside the drive mechanism if the lifting force requested from the lifting member exceeds the maximum locking force.
