The circuit uses driver elements to control luminescent elements on a display according to the information to be displayed. The driver elements (14) are controlled by a power supply voltage and a data source in a wireless manner. The power supply (18) is provided by a power supply module integrated into the LCD. The power supply module includes an optical or inductive receiver unit (22), such as a phototransistor. The data source is provided via a data supply module integrated in the LCD. The data are supplied via an optical or inductive receiver (24). The data source may be modulated on an energy carrier of the power supply and the LCD has a demodulator for separating the power supply and data supply.
